As we pointed out in our review of Hulu Desktop earlier this afternoon, the application renders a “Conflict” message when you attempt to run it with Boxee also open. The message (displayed below) informs you that Boxee has been known to cause problems with the Apple Remote hardware. Boxee, apparently, wants evidence. The company has responded with a blog post , writing “we would appreciate it if you remove the misleading message that you pop up to boxee users. boxee does not cause problems with the Apple Remote hardware. There is a setting in boxee … that lets the users decide whether they’d like boxee to always respond to the remote.” As you might know, these two companies have a brief but contentious history, with Hulu blocking

Boxee, Boxee developing a workaround, and back and forth they’ve gone. As of today, Hulu appears to remain officially opposed to Boxee using their content, with NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker telling AllThingsD earlier today that he still doesn’t want Hulu’s video on the service. Boxee, however, takes a more optimistic view on today’s news, adding, “we’re glad to see Hulu had a change of heart about bringing their service to the big screen, and we hope that this means Hulu content is coming back to boxee.” Let the war of words – and exaggerated error messages – continue.
