With so many athletes taking to Twitter and other social media tools, we’ve been closely monitoring how the professional sports leagues have been responding. The NFL recently reinforced its reputation as the “No Fun League” by banning all social media activity by players, their representatives, and team personnel both during and 90 minutes before and after games. With the NBA season set to tip off next month, ESPN reports that the league is set to reveal its own policy, which is described by their sources as “very minimal.” Not surprisingly, in-game tweeting is expected to be banned. Beyond that though, it seems as if most other social media activity will be allowed, though treated much like other forms of media communication.
