Twitter functionality is being built into more and more web applications and services, but when it comes to desktop applications, Twitter is still primarily relegated to either a Twitter-specific client or as part of another IM tool. Back in April, e-mail management software Xobni added enhanced Facebook support to its Outlook plugin. The service also integrates with LinkedIn. Now users will see a new icon in their Xobni sidebar: Twitter. With the Xobni Outlook plugin, users can send tweets and direct messages, view the Twitter updates from their contacts, post retweets, and follow or unfollow users all from within Outlook.
